Spinoff Online: I’m sure you didn’t take a fourth season for granted, but in some ways it was expected based on the quality of your show and the ratings. How satisfying is it to get that renewal?
Bitsie Tulloch: It’s pretty amazing. As you said, it wasn’t necessarily surprising. I’m proud to be on this show, not only because it’s the kind of show I would have been watching even if I wasn’t on it, but it’s really true that it’s gotten significantly better from season to season. Our showrunners have been amazing about listening to the fans and responding to the kind of stuff that the fans really like seeing more of. In Season 3 in particular, it’s been this Scooby squad. They like that. Juliette is in the know now, helping out and adding to the gang. We’ve seen a lot more of that kind of stuff. Another thing the fans really seem to respond to and love is the mythology. That’s something [executive producers] Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt are really good at. It’s definitely moved away from being all procedural all the time to focusing on this Wesen family tree. I’m sure Season 4 is going to be better than Season 3. The final episode [of Season 3] is kick-ass. There’s a really crazy twist.
Dick Wolf’s Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, the recently-launched spinoff, were both picked up for next season the network announced on Wednesday. Also renewed for the 2014-15 season? Grimm, which was picked up for a fourth season.
I’ve made an update to the Bitsie Tulloch Fan Gallery with caps from the last two episodes of Grimm.

On the digital series for “Grimm,” Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) gather their girlfriends for a Valentine’s Day spa party, only to discover a Zieglevolk casting a love spell among the group. The four-part digital series, titled “Love is in the Air,” directed by Chip Touhey and written by Nick Peet, debuts Friday, Feb. 14.
“Grimm” does not have a grim future. During NBC’s TCA 2014 winter press tour executive session, the heads of NBC Entertainment programming say that the fan-favorite genre drama will likely be coming back for Season 4.
“I think the prospects for ‘Grimm’ are very, very good,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt tells reporters. NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke adds, “They’re not grim.”
The reason for “Grimm’s” continued renewal? The fact that fans continue to tune in live.
“I think that the genre audience proves to be a very loyal one,” Greenblatt says of people watching “Grimm” when it airs live. “We like what we’re building on Friday night with ‘Grimm.’” He adds that he hopes it pairs well with Season 2 of “Hannibal.”
“Grimm” airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
BIGGEST Happy Birthday to Bitsie – may the next year bring everything and SO much more! Thanks for always supporting the site, and for just being so freaking awesome.
